On the evening of 25 February 1956, Barmaid Gwen Lubke was murdered in an empty plot in Fortitude Valley. The murderer was found quickly but the case offered up some interesting twists and turns.

In this presentation entitled “The murder of Gwen Lubke 1956”, Lisa Jones, Police Museum Curator, will outline how the story of the murder unfolded in 1956 and the several interesting developments of the case.

The one-and-a-half hour presentation will begin at 11am on Sunday 25 February and will provide content suitable for adult audiences only.

The Museum opens its doors to the public on the last Sunday of each month from 10am to 3pm from February to November in addition to the standard Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm opening hours. Monthly Sunday openings feature guest speakers from across the historical and crime-solving spectrums.

PLEASE NOTE: The Police Museum will open Sunday 25 February from 10am to 3pm and is located on the ground floor of Police Headquarters, 200 Roma Street, Brisbane.
