Green Hills Walk Map

On our 90 minute meander along footpaths and byways, past Brisbane’s living history, your guides will give you an overview of the policing and community stories of Green Hills.

Beginning at Police Headquarters, on the walk we will pass the site of the first cemetery in Brisbane, the Petrie Terrace Police Depot, the site of the first Brisbane Gaol, the police garage, police radio station, Victoria Barracks, the first police stable, and the site of the first Brisbane reservoir.

The walk will take 1.5 hours, with initially quite a lot of steps (but we can direct you to the lift), uneven surfaces, a slight uphill grade past Victoria Barracks and a slight downhill grade back to Roma Street.

There will be TRACK WORKS on 30 March 2025- Queensland Rail has notified that – Bowen Hills to Gympie North (including Doomben, Airport, Redcliffe Peninsula and Shorncliffe lines) – will be effected by works. Buses will replace trains.

This is a WALKING TOUR so please wear comfortable shoes and weather appropriate protection (a hat, sunscreen, windbreaker etc) and bring water. As we will be visiting sites with unique characteristics and crossing roads etc, it is important that you remain aware of the surroundings and for the group to stay together at all times.

In case of BAD WEATHER we will attempt to go ahead (although you don’t have to!). In the event of minor inclement weather, please organise appropriate weather protection for your own comfort. QPM tours are only cancelled when weather is excessively poor. If you have provided a mobile contact number at time of booking, we will attempt to contact you if a tour is cancelled.
